Customer Review of Our RS6 Deuce

It’s always good to hear from new Renaissance customers.
Our latest model, the RS6 Deuce, adds a Seymour Duncan Humbucker, customized by us, to our 18 volt Timberline piezo system.
Here’s what Eddie Rossman, a television professional recording artist, has to share.

“The guitar is incredible, she’s perfect! I absolutely love her (named her
Isabella) and have played her non-stop since day one!

The grain and simple finish on the mahogany look intense and she’s been
getting so many compliments on her look!

When she arrived I was already doing some soundtrack work and had a live
show, so getting her in I though would be a “trial by fire” as they saying
goes. As it turns out there is no stress and worry about mic choices and
placement. Nor is there any worry about ambient noise in the recording
environment (eg vocals bleeding into guitar mic).

In a way it’s almost unimpressive because all you have to do is plug in
and one readily can get a superb high end acoustic sound. Speaking
practically as an engineer, musician and producer, you have simplified and
improved a complex and time consuming process and are making our lives

The guitar plays incredibly well. It is a really well thought out design
and the craftsmanship is flawless. The neck shape, string-spacing,
fretboard radius and width are comfortable for both fingerpicking and
electric “lead” playing. The action is perfect as I use 13’s in standard

The Deuce is very responsive to the player and expressive, in that sense
it is more like a classic musical instrument (e.g. Cello, Violin). This
guitar doesn’t limit you, it doesn’t stand in the way of one’s playing the
way some guitars do. There are no compromises between acoustic and

The inherent acoustic structural qualities of the RS-6 Deuce guitar and
the 18 volt system produce an unbelievably natural acoustic guitar sound
rather then a compromise. Even further the RS-6 Deuce not only sounds
natural and acoustic but, it sounds like a top-of-the line acoustic guitar
at that.

My signal path is through a EBS MIcroBass pre-amp/DI (www.bass.se). The
MicroBass was made for bass, but the clarity of the signal (it’s broadcast
quality) works really well for guitar too.

The DTAR goes into MicroBass Channel A and the tone pots are set to roll
any excessive “rumble” from the bass frequency & excessive “presence” from
the highs.
The outputs go:
DI/XLR – into mixing board
1/4 Output into a Tech 21 Trademark 60 “Channel 2″.

Oddly enough the Tech 21 “Channel 2″ is the “hot/overdrive” channel (as
opposed to “Channel 1″ being the clean). But Fingerpicking with the
“Drive” and ‘Growl” rolled off and the “Weep” switch engaged the sound
produced is a very, clean harmonically rich, dynamically sensitive,
expressive sound. Yet it is very controlled in a way similar to a “parlour
size” guitar. Does that make sense?

The XLR/DI into the board sound is somewhere between my Martin Mahogany
D-15, a Martin HD-28 and a Taylor DN3. Balanced, defined midrange,
expressive and controlled with some “airy” high end. Personally speaking
it is the ideal sound.

The Stag Mag goes into the MicroBass Channel B which has a “scoopable”
mid-range. I set the midrange EQ to the fundamental frequency of the
guitar and that goes into the Tech 21’s “Channel 1″ which is the clean
channel. That allows me to go from clean to a natural, burnished
overdriven guitar tone, just by using the Deuce’s volume and tone knobs.

This is just a start of what I hope is a long, happy, fruitful journey
with my new guitar and mutually enjoyable relationship with your wonderful
